Giga Texas build moments: Tesla Cybertruck as ice cream truck for workers (video)

Austin, Texas-based electric car maker Tesla, Inc. has shared video from the Model Y factory construction days when the Cybertruck was used as an ice cream truck for workers. Two Giga Texas employees hand out ice cream to factory workers on a hot sunny day in this video (below).

Tesla captioned this video as “Once upon a time in Giga Texas…🍦” on Instagram. Tesla Cybertruck has a trailer bed large enough to store ice cream for the entire Tesla workforce working there.

The video also gives us great views of the Tesla Cybertruck from different angles. Since this is a revised prototype of the Cybertruck, it features subtle design changes from the older versions Tesla showed off a few years ago.

Giga Texas employees look happy to receive their ice cream during work when the afternoon heat is at its peak. Tesla doesn’t have a union at the company, but the automaker has its own ways of creating an environment that increases work enthusiasm and job satisfaction. The video above is an example.

Elon Musk has repeatedly said that the Cybertruck will have a number of power outlets and conveniences to allow owners to work in the field. So a power outlet for a small freezer to keep ice cream frozen would be a no-brainer for the Cybertruck.

In one frame, we can see the Cybertruck on the side of a Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck (pictured below). The Cybertruck looks a bit smaller compared to a Ford F-250, but Tesla’s real pickup truck competitor is the Ford F-150 and the new Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks.

Tesla opened Giga Texas last month with a grand opening party named Cyber Rodeo. Tesla Model Y production has since begun at the factory inside the building we saw in the video above.

According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, design and development work on the Cybertruck will be completed this year and the automaker is expected to start production next year (2023).

Cybertruck is Tesla’s most anticipated product with over a million pre-orders on the back burner. In my opinion, it will be a bigger success even compared to what the Tesla Model 3 has been for the past few years.
